Hi folks!
I was tagged to do this tag by the lovely Siobhan! I could have swore I did this tag, but apparently not so I’m pretty glad Siobhan tagged me! You can read her post here, and I definitely encourage you to check out her whole blog as well!
A popular book or series that you didn’t like
- Don’t hurt me for this but… A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. It was so hyped up, everyone loved it but I really was just disappointed by it. I read the second book, it was somewhat better than the first, but at that point I’ve given up with Sarah J. Maas. Her books are just not for me anymore.
A popular book or series that everyone else seems to hate but you love
- I wouldn’t say love but I don’t hate it as much as everyone else seems to be hating on it. That would be Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. Yeah sure it’s quite generic and full of cliché but there are other YA series that are the same and people still love them.
A love triangle where the main character ended up with the person you didn’t want them to end up with or an OTP you don’t like
- The Alina-Mal-Darkling love triangle from the Grisha trilogy. But before you scream at me, hear me out, Alina should have stayed alone.
A popular book genre that you hardly reach for
- Contemporary. It just doesn’t appeal for me. I do occasionally read one, even love those (Let’s Talk About Love is a great example).
A popular or beloved character that you do not like
- Okay, I might upset some people with this but… Rhysand. I get why he appeals to so many readers but I just… I don’t like him.
A popular author that you can’t seem to get into
- There are quite a few, to be honest. Just to mention a couple: Samantha Shannon, John Green, Stephen King.
A popular book trope that you’re tired of seeing
- Again, there is quite a few out there. Any cliché romance trope to be honest (if you read my blog for a bit now you know I’m not the biggest fan of romance). To mention something specific: “I’m not like other girls” trope is something that gets on my nerves very easily.
A common series that you have no interest in reading
- Anything new that Sarah J. Maas will put out, to be honest. Also the new Cassandra Clare series as well.
The saying goes “The book is always better than the movie”, but what movie or TV show adaptation do you prefer more than the book?
- The Death Cure movie is a lot better than the book.
I’m definitely also not biased because of Thomas Brodie-Sangster, I promise.
Hope you enjoyed this tag, and you don’t hate me if I talked about your favourites. No hard feelings, they are just really not for me. If you want to do this tag, I tag you!
I agree with you on that last question girl, even though I haven’t read the Death cure yet. But I still agree with you on that

I don’t often say the book is worse than the movie but in that case the movie was definitely a LOT better.

i would agree but like I said I haven’t read the Death cure yet

Great tag, I love your answers.
Alina should absolutely have stayed alone!
And yes, “not like other girls” can get in the bin.

I actually really enjoyed Red Queen and I don’t understand the hate? Like it is so similar to other Fantasy books

I guess because it’s tropy, and I guess there was some drama with the main character being a latina? I’m not sure, I’m always out of the bookish dramas.

People are so judgy with books these days. Why does it have to be perfect?

Right! I feel like as bloggers we are pressured to be more critical, so it’s easy to forget how to enjoy reading a book. I think of it often lately.

How you feel about Sarah J Maas is how I feel about V. E Schwab lol

See I adore V.E. Schwab! Not every author is for everyone, and that’s fine!

Oh no, I loved ACOTAR, Rhysand and contemporary books haha! But I am 10000% on your side with John Green and Stephen King, they definitely are not for me!

I can see why people love Rhysand but I just can’t. 😅 I’m glad I’m not alone with that!

Contemporary is a genre I tend to reach for the most often but fantasy the least often, it’s interesting how different everyone’s tastes are! 😊

We are like the opposite it seems like! 🙂

I completely agree with your opinion on the “I’m not like other girls” trope. Great post!

It’s just tiresome now, really! Thank you!

I want to do this tag! And I agree with Death Cure lol (i skimmed through it) but the movie is waaay better. I read and loved the RQ Series but the last two books wasn’t just for me. And for SJM and Cassie Clare I think the hype around the books is overwhelming… anyway lovely answers.

I tag you then! I think there were parts of it that I also skimmed. The movie was a loooot better. Oh I only read the first two so now I’m scared of continuing it. They really are, and romance heavy that is just not something I like so… Thank you, Justine!

It’s tricky when it comes to tags, especially because I’ve done quite some of them already!

I usually check to see if I’ve done a tag already f I haven’t heard of it before.

This is a nice tag. I have to agree about romance tropes that are very cliché. I can take them in small doses but I do get bored of certain overdone characteristics. I am very pick about romance books. I’ve not seen The Death Cure movie so I will go have a look thanks 🙂

Thank you! I am also very picky with romance and I can’t really read a lot of it either. Ohh I hope you’ll like the movie! 🙂

I am with you. I tried reading City of Bone and now I am no longer interested in reading anything else by Cassandra Clare. I didn’t get into that book at all. Loved reading this tag!

I dragged myself through The Mortal Instruments, but the last book was very painful for me.

That is how I felt about the first book. I keep thinking about trying again because so many people love it so much but I am not sure if I ever will.

I feel the same about most of what you said. I couldn’t get myself to finish ACOTAR or any Stephen King book. And the “I’m not like other girls” trope really irritates me

I’m so glad I’m not alone with it! So many people adore those books, but I just couldn’t.

I love this tag, I want to do it soon! I am a huge fan of contemporary books and John Green but can understand why some people may not be able to get into his books!

I’m definitely looking forward to read your answers then! Yeah, they are just not for me sadly.

I agree with so many of your answers for this! Especially the ones about liking Red Queen and I’m not a big fan of John Green either… I don’t get what the hype is all about!
