After two years I finally came around reading the second book in The Illuminae Files (
bless Scribd’s existence honestly). I recently re-read the first book, Illuminae, and adored it just as much as I did for the first time. So when I saw that Gemina is available on Scribd, I knew I had to read it. Maybe this one didn’t get that strong feelings out of me but I still really enjoyed it and flew through it. This is probably going to be a little shorter review and might have spoilers for the first book so if you haven’t read that do read it and come back! If you want to know my thoughts on the first book you can find my review here.

I’m catching up on the reviews I was supposed to post last year. Windwitch is the 2nd book of The Witchlands series. The first book, Truthwitch was one of the first books I reviewed here on my blog. If you want to read that review you can find it here. To be honest the star rating changed from what I gave it back in 2017, now it’s more of a 3 star rating for me. Especially after reading the second book. I like to give a chance to series where I don’t necessarily liked the first book, the second can always redeem the series. This was the case here too. Also let me tell, these covers are gorgeous! I’ve never been one to be really caught up on covers but I definitely want to collect the series with this cover.

This review is long overdue and I’m sorry I haven’t gotten to it earlier. But I’m finally here to bring you the review of the second book of The Villains duology, Vengeful. I have a review up of the first book too, Vicious. You can read it here if you have not yet. There might be some spoiler for the first book in this review so if you haven’t yet, you definitely should read it first and come back.

I’m back with another review! I might be getting out of this review writing slump. Hopefully. Anyway! I went to a London for a small trip and I made it my goal to get my hands on a copy of Ninth House. And I did! And on the way back on the plane I started reading it too! I have to say Leigh Bardugo’s books found me this year at a time when I desparately needed a good distraction and for that I cannot be thankful enough. For this reason my review might be a little bit biased but this book was everything I wanted it to be!
Trigger warnings: drug use, overdosing, murder, death, gore, PTSD, self-harm, rape, child (12) rape (it’s only two pages, but it’s very graphic), statutory rape (15), sexual assault, forced sexual assault on video, talk of suicide, physical abuse, a magical date rape drug, forced eating of human waste, and racism (always in a negative light)
Rating: 5 stars
Book Depository: paperback | hardback (black snake)| hardback (brown coloured snake)

Finally after two months I’m back with a new, full review! It’s been a while but none of the books I’ve read really made me want to write a full review on them, this is why I actually posted my very first post of mini reviews. But then I listened to the audio book of Sorcery of Thorns in October and it made me want to write a full review of it so here we are. I was very anticipant towards this book but I ended up being mostly disappointed in it.

If you’ve paid attention to what went live on my blog in the last 1-2 months you probably noticed I haven’t had a review up for quite some time. To be exact, since the 13th of August. Somehow I just got so busy, especially since the semester started, that I hadn’t had the time or the energy to write reviews. Writing reviews in itself can be time consuming but to translate that, which is something I do with every review, makes it even more time consuming. But I didn’t want to leave you all without thoughts on the books so I decided to do mini reviews of 2-3 or more books and if you are curious about my more indepth thoughts, I can later do a full review on the books. This is also a great chance to talk about books I would not write a full review on. So here we go!

I’m bringing you a review of the 3rd book in the Wayfarers series, by Becky Chambers. In case you have never heard of it, this is an adult sci-fi series, the books are basically companion books so you don’t have to read them in order. Though I do recommend because I feel like the first book explains a lot of things better about Chambers’ space than the third one. I have a review up of the first and the second book as well if you want to read them!

I’m bringing you something different this time. I will be honest, I got this book because I used to watch my brother play with Assassin’s Creed and I found it quite interesting. Also last year when I bought it, it was on sale on Book Depository.

I’m coming back to you with another book review of a book I recieved through the Book Hooked Box. It was in the May Book Hooked Box. After We Set The Dark on Fire, which I enjoyed endlessly, I bravely went into this one. However it gave me a lot of trouble and a lot to think about. This frankly was not what I expected it to be.
Trigger warning: rape, mentions of domestic violence, underaged drinking and drug use, toxic friendship, murder

I got this book from the April Book Hooked Box, that is run by my lovely friend Sarah. I have to say I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I ended up enjoying it! If I can be honest, this was not a book I’d have picked up on my own so I’m really glad I got it through Book Hooked Box. I have an unboxing post for the box, so if you want to know what was in the box, you can read it here.
